Year One 2017
During Focus on Reading lessons we have been analysing the book 'Amy and Louis' by Libby Gleeson. Our lessons have focussed on the Super Six strategies of reading comprehension- PREDICTING, MAKING CONNECTIONS, VISUALISING, SUMMARISING, MONITORING and QUESTIONING and our teachers are amazed at some of our ideas and work samples.
GUIDED READING GROUPS
Guided reading groups have started and our teachers are amazed at how much we have improved in such a short space of time! We are learning so many useful reading strategies and we even use our Super Six comprehension strategies to help us make sense of what we are reading about. Reading is AWESOME!
During Terms 1 we have been developing our recount writing skills. We know the structure of a recount and how important capital letters and full stops are to make our writing make sense.
LISTENING AND SPEAKING
In Year 1 we LOVE to give our news each week. It really helps us to learn to speak in a clear and confident voice and our friends enjoy asking us interesting questions about the topics we talk about.
