Applications for student travel 2016

From 2 November 2015, a new online SSTS application process is being introduced for schools within the Opal network, coinciding with the introduction of the School Opal card. Schools outside the Opal network should continue to process the existing blue SSTS application forms and send them to the appropriate transport operators. Most parents, guardians and students won't need to apply for a school travel pass for 2016 if they have already been given a school student travel pass for the current year. 2016 school funding allocations

All NSW public schools are currently being advised of their 2016 Resource Allocation Model (RAM) funding. RAM distributes funding based on individual needs of students and schools, and gives schools greater flexibility to make financial decisions. The way schools use their RAM funding will vary based on local needs. Some support will be for the entire school, and some will be for particular groups of students or individual students. Spelling Bee 2015 - The Buzz

Connells Point Public School has enrolled in the Premier's Spelling Bee for 2015. This is a valuable opportunity for students to challenge their spelling prowess individually, within grade groups and at a higher stage level. In order to ensure that all children have a fair and equitable chance to perform in the lead up to the selection process, we encourage all children to take part in the grade selection. Congratulations to all of the students who took part in the 2015 Bandfest, held in the St George Auditorium in Kogarah. All of the students played extremely well, under the guidance of our conductor Mr Kevin Skues. We are very proud to announce that both our Junior and Senior bands achieved a gold medal. District Cross Country

Congratulations to the students who participated in the Georges River District Cross Country on Thursday 21st May at Gannons Park. Our school team ran very well, placing 4th out of the 16 schools represented. Two of our students will progress to the Sydney East Carnival on 11 June after placing in the top six of their age group (with 64 competitors in each race). Term 2 Begins!

Term 2 will begin for students on Tuesday 21 April. Staff will be attending a staff development day on Monday 20 April and the school office will be open from 8:30am for any enquiries. A reminder that, the Athletics Carnival for Years 3-6 will be held at Sylvania Athletics Track, Belgrave Esplanade, Sylvania Waters on the first day of term. Students are expected to wear sports uniform or house colours (with a hat). Students will need to be at school by 8:30am for buses to depart at 8:45am.
