Each year, we bring children and books together to celebrate Book Week. This years Book Week Parade will be held on Thursday 25 August at 10am. We look forward to seeing your amazing costumes based on book characters. We encourage you to carry the book that you used as inspiration in the parade. Connells Point would like to invite all parents and friends to join us on the day and watch the parade. The theme of this years Book Week is ‘Australia! Story Country'. The P & C will be selling tea and coffee and you can stay and have recess with your children.

This year we will be introducing a book swap in the school library. Students can bring in three books that they have read or that are no longer suitable for their age group. The books need to be in good condition, with no torn pages or writing on them. For a gold coin donation, the students can pick three new books that they get to take home and keep as their own. We encourage students to bring in all types of books including novels, picture books, fiction and non-fiction.

The money that we raise will be donated to The Indigenous Literacy Foundation. The ILF is a national charity that aims to improve children's literacy levels in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. They do this through three core programs: Book Supply, Book Buzz and Community Literacy Projects. To find out more please visit their website www.indigenouslitearcyfoundation.org.au
