Visual Arts

Mrs Abelas is a talented artist who has been able to teach some of our students visual art lessons on a weekly basis. Our students have enthusiastically participated in these lessons and have had a lot of fun creating various artworks. You will find some of the students' artworks below.

The Year of the Rooster - During Term One, students in 3 Purple and 3 Blue created their own roosters. 2017 is a year of the Rooster. Every 12 years there is a Rooster year, beginning at Chinese New Year.

Australian Fauna & Flora - As part of our sustainability project, students in Year 3 studied various Australian Flora and Fauna to see what was native to the Connells Point area.

The Twits - During Term Two, students in Year 3 were studying the novel 'The Twits' by Roald Dahl. Here are some collages of The Twits.

Sidney Nolan - Sir Sidney Nolan's 1946-47 paintings on the theme of the 19th-century bushranger Ned Kelly are one of the greatest series of Australian paintings of the 20th century. Nolan's starkly simplified depiction of Kelly in his homemade armour has become an iconic Australian image. Highlighting these works makes the point that Australian art is part of the world, with its own stories to tell.
